Archaeologists In Peru Just Found A 450-Year-Old Mass Grave Of 76 Child Sacrifice Victims

At the archaeological site of Pampala Cruz in Peru, scientists have discovered 76 child sacrifice victims buried some 450 years ago. The children are thought to have been killed by the ancient Chimu society, the largest pre-Columbian culture in the region, down to the Incas.

It is not entirely clear why these children were murdered centuries ago, but it is believed that they were given as a “gift” to the Chimu gods.

Shockingly, the discovery brings the total number of child sacrifices in the area to 302. Only time will tell if more victims will be unearthed in the future.
