Chiune Sugihara – The Japanese Schindler

As a Japanese diplomat in Lithuania, Chiune Sugihara defied his government’s orders to issue transit visas to Jewish refugees fleeing Nazi persecution. Over several weeks, he handwrote thousands of visas, enabling families to escape to Japan and other safe havens. Sugihara’s actions saved an estimated 6,000 lives, earning him posthumous recognition as a Righteous Among the Nations.
