Ottomans entered World War I

The Ottomans entered World War I on the side of the Central Powers, which proved disastrous. Following their defeat in 1918, the empire was dismantled under the Treaty of Sèvres (1920). The establishment of the Republic of Turkey in 1923 under Mustafa Kemal Atatürk marked the final end of the Ottoman Empire.
