The American Indian Movement (AIM) is a grassroots advocacy group established in 1968 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with the goal of addressing systemic injustices faced by Native Americans. Born during a time of widespread civil rights activism in the United States, AIM sought to combat poverty, police brutality, racism, and the loss of Native lands and culture, while fostering a resurgence of indigenous pride and sovereignty.
