2,977 people were killed in the bloodiest terrorist attack in U.S. history on September 11, 2001.

The incident shocked the nation. Two jets crashed into two towers of the World Trade Center in New York after being hijacked by Islamist militants who issued death threats to all Americans.

After hearing that the first plane hit the north tower, millions of people watched live on television of the second plane hitting the south tower.

This is a horrific, shocking and humiliating event for the country. The attack on Pearl Harbor 60 years ago was the worst on American soil since 9/11, and the outrage was similar.

The New York attack occurred on a busy weekday in America’s busiest city. Also, because of the staged nature of the attack, nearly everything that happened was captured by television cameras, ensuring that millions of Americans saw it as it happened.
